Hiking around Touraine

100 kilometres is a long way to walk, of course, but it’s good for the health. After the aches and pains of the first few days, your body gets used to it, apart from a blister or two. You start to feel good not only physically, but mentally, too.

Walking slows things down: the way we see time changes, far from the stress of everyday life. The enjoyment of going home again after a few days’ break is perfectly expressed in a famous line by the poet Joachim du Bellay:

Heureux qui comme Ulysse, a fait un beau voyage.

(Happy like Ulysses, after a wonderful journey.)

For a few hours or a whole day, you are sure to be delighted by our short hiking trails! And you should also have a look at two green pathes: Richelieu-Chinon and South Touraine (by feet or by bike).
