On the Loire River, a night….full of dreams!
How about new sensations? Feeling the rolling motion of the water, the first time you get on board a traditional river boat (called a “Toue”). Or, listening to the water gently splashing against the hull of the boat, in the morning when you wake up… what an unforgettable experience on the Loire river!
Touring the Loire Valley from La Batelière sur Loire
If you wish to live these new sensations, go to the small village of La Chapelle-aux-Naux, between Tours and Nantes. To stay on the Loire River, not far from the old church renovated in the 17th century, the traditional boat “la Toue Reine” (built not far from the river) is waiting for you. You can also book a tree houses or a gite. And to complete your stay in France, here at The Batelière sur Loire, a relaxation and wellness area (sauna and Jacuzzi) is at your disposal!
You will be warmly welcomed by Selma Trova who will give you precious advice about nearby activities. Enjoy this relaxing place and time with this motionless cruise on the Loire River.
Nearby the Loire River, the must-see
Nearby, the village of Bréhémont is worth visiting for 3 reasons, at least:
- La cabane à matelot: a restaurant led by Vincent Gadais, a Loire fisherman who offers the fresh fish he has caught on his menu. 100% local, 100% delicious.
- You can rent a bike at “Loire vélo nature”. It is the first rental proposing hydrogen electric bicycles (welcome to the 21st century!). Enjoy a good bike ride (16 km) which will take you to Rivarennes. A stop in this small village is compulsory! You cannot leave the village without tasting the “poires tapées”, a delicious local specialty of dried pears.
- You can rent a canoe at “Kryzalid’Nature” and make a canoe trip on the Loire River. What an exotic experience!
Even more unusual: explore the region with a e-scooter or a gyropod and take the direction of the chateau of Ussé. For more sensations experiment the all-terrain gyropod in the vineyards of Nicolas Paget. After this adventure, you will taste Nicolas’ organic wines (touraine, touraine-azay-le-rideau and chinon wines).
A last suggestion not far from the Loire River? For a day tour, go to the village of Villaines-les-Rochers where many craftsmen have kept the tradition of wickerwork. A short interpretive trail (5,2 km / 3,2 miles) shows the stages of cultivation from wicker to basket.
