A desire for holidays
Loire Valley is an attractive destination, with new addresses opening up every year. At the same time, renovation projects are renewing what’s already on offer. Hotels, bed and breakfasts, gîtes, campsites, holiday villages… find out what’s new in Touraine!
Le Détour, near Lake of Rillé.
It took a little more than a magic wand to transform this former barn into a guest house with a resolutely contemporary design. For a family or friendly gathering, the 3 guest rooms of Le Détour can be rented together, converting the building into a large charming gite (sleeps up to 10).
Le Presbytère – Maison Flore, in Chédigny.
Set amidst the 1,000 rose bushes of the garden-village of Chédigny, the Presbytère’s 4 guest rooms and tearoom “Maison Flore” have found their perfect place in this unspoilt environment. This is borne out by the first reviews posted on the usual websites, which unanimously highlight the most charming welcome. Nearby, the Royal City of Loches and the Château of Chenonceau are not to be missed, but a visit to the villages of Beaulieu-lès-Loches (Petite Cité de Caractère) and Montrésor (Plus beau village de France) will round off your programme perfectly!
Le Château de la Rollandière campsite, near Chinon.
Taken over a few months ago by a couple of seasoned professionals, this château on the banks of the Vienne offers cottages and camping pitches, as well as gîtes, chambres d’hôtes and even a group gîte for 15/20 people. La Rolandière‘s wooded grounds and swimming pool are full of charm, and there are plenty of places to visit in the surrounding area (Chinon and its fortress, the Château of Azay-le-Rideau, the Rivau gardens, the Sibylle Wine Cellar, the Petite Cité de Caractère de Richelieu…).
Village Vacances Les Fontenils
Just outside Chinon, the Les Fontenils tourist complex offers chalets for 4 or 6 people, which can be rented by the night or by the week. The heated swimming pool and restaurant service provide a comfortable base for your stay. The Saint Benoit Aventure park, the Monument Game at the fortress, a walk in the Bois Chétif or basket-making workshops are all great family fun.
Les toiles de la Tortillère
In the Loire-Anjou-Touraine Nature Park, Les Toiles de la Tortillère offers the chance to spend one or more unusual nights in total immersion with nature. The luxury safari tents offer uninterrupted views over magnificent landscapes. The ecological pool and wood-heated Nordic bath are perfect examples of the environmentally-friendly approach adopted by Julien Haimart, the owner and designer (a former fighter pilot in the French Air Force!), who joined the Gîtes de France® network in April 2024.
In hotels
The tasty cuisine of chef Yoann Bourdais has given the hotel-restaurant Le XII de Luynes its letters of nobility. The beautiful story continues with a superb troglodytic spa suite (swimming spa, sauna, wellness area) to complete the hotel’s offer. Yet another reason to stay on the banks of the Loire, between Tours and the Château de Langeais.
In Tours city centre, the Labe Hôtel opened its doors in early 2024, boasting a resolutely contemporary decor. Not far away, in Rochecorbon, the new owners of Hautes Roches have recently upgraded the decor. In the kitchen, Hervé Lussault and his team delight guests in the hotel’s two restaurants (one gastronomic, the other bistronomic).
