Infusions, condiments, hydrolats, chocolates…
A farmer, a picker and a transformer: that’s how Juliette Krier-Mallet defines herself, having returned to settle in a pretty little corner of the Touraine countryside, in Sennevières. A return to her roots, but also the beginning of a new adventure, with the creation of her plant hut.
A bit of Touraine in the suitcases
To bring back a little bit of our vacation place at home, many of us bring back some local specialities bought on the spot. In Touraine, a visit to a troglodytic cellar will allow you to fill the last space in the trunk of your car with one or several cases of wine. Under the leadership of the chambers of agriculture, the Bienvenue à la Ferme (Welcome to the Farm) network also allows you to buy many products, as well as the local markets.
As for Juliette’s infusions and other products, you can find them at the minimalist grocery store at the Loches train station (and at the Maison du Mochi, in Paris), as well as at the farm, by appointment or during a tasting visit, a workshop, or a brunch, and online: https://lacabaneaplantes.com/.
The plants… of the plant hut
So you might ask, what do we find on the family land of the Nouers farm? Alongside plants gathered directly from nature, about fifty varieties now flourish under the sun of southern Touraine. Cultivated without chemical inputs, they come from seeds and plants of Organic Agriculture.
Marigold, mint, lemon verbena, blueberry, fennel, lemon balm, basil, cinnamon, borage, chives, yarrow, hyssop, thyme, lavender, chamomile, hops, mugwort… tasty, the preparations also have interesting virtues. Some herbal teas promote sleep while others can replace your morning tea. Medicinal properties on the renal functions (forest heather) or digestive (sage) could also interest you. Note that if nettle reminds you of bad memories on your skin, it is nevertheless one of the best therapeutic plants, with many minerals and trace elements.
In short, there is a lot to discover in this plant hut. So take advantage of one of Juliette’s appointments to live a beautiful experience in a privileged natural setting.
