The good life on the banks of the Loire

5,436 acres… it’s an ocean of vineyards that stretches over the hillsides of Vouvray. You will have a very good idea if you choose to stay in one of the guest rooms of the Gaimont, a small winegrower’s castle carved in the rock. 500 meters away, the street of La Monaco leads directly to the first plots of chenin blanc, the grape variety that reigns supreme in the appellation.

The Gaimont guest rooms

It took the Merceret Trapani family three generations to complete the restoration of this charming estate. It is impossible not to feel privileged to stay in this setting, in Vouvray. 3 guest rooms and 2 suites make up the accommodation offer, as well as a troglodytic gîte. The room “Le Rocher” also has this characteristic, which is one of the specificities of Touraine.

That said, whether they are troglodytic or classic, the Gaimont’s rooms are all elegantly decorated, and guarantee a stay full of tranquility. Outside, the garden and the swimming pool perfectly complete the decor.

Around the Gaimont

If you choose to spend a few days in Vouvray, you will certainly have the idea to discover one or two wineries in the heart of this appellation, born in 1936. The Clos de l’Epinay winery is the closest to the guest house, about 1 kilometer away. A little further away, the great cellar of Vouvray, the Nicolas Brunet estate (in organic conversion), or the castle of Moncontour offer other beautiful complementary visits.

As for the restaurants, the Hautes Roches (one star in the Michelin guide), the Gueules Noires and the Table de Joseph allow you to dine nearby.

More widely, the Gaimont guest rooms are located halfway between Tours and Amboise. A dynamic and historical city center on one side (the old Tours, the cathedral, the CCCOD…), great monuments to visit on the other side (the royal castle of Amboise, the Clos Lucé, the royal domain of Château Gaillard…): 2 cities not to be missed!
