The Château de Saché is a Renaissance château that was converted into an attractive private residence in the 19th century. It was one of the important sources of inspiration for Honoré de Balzac, who set his novel "The Lily of the Valley" here in the Indre valley. He also wrote parts of several works while staying at the château, including Le Père Goriot.
The collections in the Balzac Museum contain almost 2,300 pieces (sculptures, paintings, manuscripts, etc.), with works by Rodin among them.
