For the perfect family day out, near Amboise and Chenonceaux, get on board the Safari Train at the Beaumarchais Reserve. Get ready for an amazing trip through a breeding park for big game animals.

Sitting comfortably, you will set off on a trip to see the animals at close quarters. Watch the wild boars and boarlets with their striped fur. Did you know they use it as camouflage? They trot about beneath the trees in search of food. Then pay a visit to the majestic stags followed by the does and fawns. In the Beaumarchais Reserve, you will also get to meet deer with white spots, European mouflons, plus plenty of other surprising species, such as rheas, emus, ostriches with their gigantic eggs, and American bison. Thrills guaranteed!

The guided tour on the Safari train includes a full commentary. In a superb circular stable, a film on a giant screen rounds off the train trip. There is also a play park to delight the children, and not forgetting the non-guided visit to the Bennett’s wallabies, with a view over the magnificent Château de Beaumarchais.

Share a meal made from game

At lunchtime, as well as a picnic area, the inn at the Beaumarchais Reserve serves a range of game dishes and welcomes you for a 100% local meal, with pride of place given to traditional and “home-made” cuisine: charcuterie, grilled meat, stews… From boar filet mignon to venison steak and Canada-style bison stew, there is something for all tastes!

In the shop, you can find a wide range of meat from the reserve, along with specialities made by other local producers and farmers.

Special events and theme nights are on offer all through the season (reservation required). See the calendar below.

Mother’s Day. Free visit to the park in the Safari Train for all mothers having lunch at the inn. Special menu for the occasion.
In June: lunch with spit-roasted boar. With your family or friends, celebrate Father’s Day with a tasty menu!
In August: Full moon evening. Start off the evening at the inn with a 100% local dinner, then, at dusk, board the Safari Train for an amazing trip through the animal breeding park, with a chance to see the big game living their lives in the light of the full moon.
In September: stag’s bellow evening. Come and experience a legendary phenomenon that very few people have the chance to hear: the stag’s bellow. Get on board the Safari Train for a journey through the different breeding parks. In particular, you can watch and listen to the dominant stag, protecting his herd of deer from surprise visits from younger stags. After the excursion, it is time for dinner in the inn.
