Langeais chateau, a lively experience to be had

The chateau of Langeais was built at the junction between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance time. The exceptional collection of furniture and tapestries makes the daily life of the Lords of the time come to life. In addition, a rich program of events is offered to the visitors.

Langeais Chateau was first a fortress built by the count of Anjou, Foulque Nerra, around the year one thousand. From this time, only the dungeon remains. Just opposite, Louis the XIth chateau reflects the transition between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance time. As the visible facade from the town shows its impressive high towers, its drawbridge and machicolation, the back side looks more like a residence with its large windows opening on to the garden.
