Le Sceptre & la Quenouille exhibition: Being a woman between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance-1

Fine Arts museum – Tours, Loire Valley, France. Jean-Christophe Coutand / ADT Touraine

The Musée des Beaux-arts in Tours is presenting an exceptional exhibition devoted to women between the end of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, in France and Northern Europe.
More than a hundred major works - paintings, sculptures, manuscripts, prints and everyday objects - from some of the world's leading museums have been brought together to shed light on the place, role and image of women in 15th and 16th century society.
The exhibition is based on the historical advances of recent decades, and on the work of a scientific committee of eminent specialists in the field.
