Nice hotels for a stay in Loire Valley
A great weekend starts by finding a nice hotel where you can relax after a day spent sightseeing and walking. The Loire châteaux attract large numbers of visitors, and Touraine has a wide range of accommodation to welcome them. For example, visitors can opt for one of our charming hotels with tasteful decoration and a warm welcome always guaranteed.
A selection of three nice and charming hotels
In the category of “charming hotels”, here is a selection of three destinations with a range of different prices.
Hôtel du Cygne – a 2-star hotel in Tours
The Hôtel du Cygne is said to be one of the oldest hotels in Tours! And yet, the interior design also makes it one of the city’s most trending hotels. Reviews rightly highlight the great value for money on offer. And its location poses a terrible dilemma: which restaurant should you choose for dinner?! Because close by, cusine from France and elsewhere make Rue Colbert a very lively spot, especially since this is a pedestrian-only street and has a great view over the timber-framed houses.
Hôtel Le Cheval Blanc – 3-star hotel in Bléré
Close by the Château de Chenonceau, Le Cheval Blanc has been welcoming international visitors for a long time now. The owners turned a fire in 2019 into an opportunity to fully renovate the hotel. The comfort in the rooms is outstanding, as is the restaurant, which is clearly on the gastronomic side of the force. Add to that a heated pool for sunny days, and you will be like a “coq en pate” (“as happy as a cockerel in pastry”). And for anyone wondering about the origin of this French expression, it comes from 19th century agriculture contests. The cockerel feathers were covered in dough to make them bright and shiny!
Hôtel Valézieux – Boutique hotel in Rochecorbon
The idea of a boutique hotel is to welcome guests in an original building with a history and a whole lot of character. The Hôtel Valézieux is no exception: the 6 rooms and 4 suites are in an elegant and attractive residence. Véronique and Pascal will go out of their way to welcome you like their personal guests. The attentiveness is clear in the evening in particular at dinner time (our tip: try the baba au rhum!), when you can enjoy a meal in the hotel. Tours town centre, the Châteaux d’Amboise and the Vouvray wine cellars (Château Gaudrelle, for example) are close by.
The region’s other hotels
Charming hotels attract a wide range of visitors, but Touraine can also boast a large number of châteaux-hôtels with a heritage from past centuries. For tourists from all over the world, and especially from across the Atlantic, they typically evoke the French lifestyle.
Out of the ordinary: troglodyte and original accommodation is enjoying a lot of success. Spending the night in a bedroom below a stone vault, up a tree or on the River Loire is the stuff of dreams. The ideal place to sleep, don’t you think?!
