3 great places to brunch in Touraine

Ah, the sweet torpor of a Sunday in wintertime, when it takes you ages to emerge from under your quilt, your appetite gradually grows and time is not important… And what fits in perfectly with this delightfully lazy living? Why, brunch, of course! Here are 3 top venues in Touraine for a gourmet ‘11 to 3’.

Brunch at the château

Before you even discover the delights of the buffet at the Château d’Artigny estate, you’ll already be feasting your eyes on the place itself. The size and architecture of this magnificent 5-star establishment, which used to belong to a famous perfumer, leaves you no choice. One Sunday a month, this hotel organises a sophisticated luxury brunch, which everyone can enjoy. A great opportunity, at an excellent price (€49 per person, all-inclusive), to treat yourselves to a lovely bite of Sunday magic! Brunch served from 11.30 am to 1.30 pm.

That 70’s Brunch !

Every Sunday, Cuisine & Gourmandises welcomes all funky brunchers to eat in its totally ‘70s ambiance, between 10.30 am and 3 pm. Formica and retro furniture are, of course, de rigueur, giving it a warm, colourful vibe. The brunch menu only features homemade products and changes every week, depending on the chef’s inspiration. There is always a savoury dish, a sweet dish, a large hot drink of your choice and a glass of fresh fruit juice.

Brunch at the Plum’ – out of this world!

The Place Plumereau in Tours is THE symbol of the city, a place you simply have to visit, a great place to wander around and hang out in whether you’re from the district or the other side of the world. On the square, the debonair Café Marcel offers a deliciously hearty 100% homemade, 100% fresh brunch menu every Sunday. The flexible menu includes fruit and fruit juice, pancakes, crêpes, homemade hamburgers or assorted cold meats and rice pudding. And while you’re tucking in, you can admire the half-timbered houses of Old Tours. The Café Marcel also has premises in the L’Heure Tranquille shopping centre a few tram stations from the centre, offering the same services.
