Your first memory

The city of Loches in the winter, when night was falling and the only sound that could be heard was the organ playing at the Saint Ours cathedral where a mysterious musician was practicing, oblivious to the magical atmosphere permeating the deserted city.

Name a place

The Turpenay Abbey, now a private property, it was one of those discoveries that was made after living here for 20 years, although it's only a short distance from home. It's a place where the emphasis is on the history of stones. Imagine, the magnificent ruins of the former cloister, ruins that are well maintained and currently adorned with lovely paths lined with blue hortensia flowers in the middle of a clearing, in the heart of the Saint Benoît forest.

Name a person you have met

Our reception in the Azay-le-Rideau area was so incredible that it's hard for me to choose. I could name Mr & Mrs Sarrazin who, from the first time we met, introduced us to the local tourism circle and have since become genuine friends. I could also name Mr Gaston Badiller, an elderly man of 87 years who defends his village and its history, and finally Mr Verronneau de la Herpinière who works the vines with love and respect, producing the Azay-le-Rideau wine that is best not mentioned out of fear that we won't have any left...

Tell us about an unforgettable moment

The annual family picnic in the Chatonnière gardens, in the spring when the first flowers appear, at the end of the chestnut path with a view of the Indre valley.

A pleasant surprise

The fox that came early each morning this summer to drink water from the pool as we watched on from behind our windows...

Name a savour

The sweet grapes that I pick from the trellis above the table when it's time for dessert.

A photo opportunity

The countryside, where the organised rows of grape vines go hand in hand with the flowering fallow fields.

"LES ECUREUILS"

Nestled in a small hamlet amidst the orchards, near Azay-le-Rideau, "Les Ecureuils" features 2 charming rooms, one of which is a family suite, in addition to a spacious eco-friendly self-catering gîte that sleeps 9 to 10, with a pool. Stay near the main Loire castles: Azay-le-Rideau, of course, but also the Villandry and Langeais estates (12 km), the Chinon royal fortress (15 km) and Chenonceau (40 km). The "Loire à Vélo" route is also nearby.
