At 189 metres, the "Ronde de Céré" is the highest point in Touraine - obviously in a different class than the lofty summits of the Alps and the Pyrenees! In regards to the quantity of marked hiking trails, Touraine is however ranked among the top departments in France, with hundreds of kilometres of trails through our river valleys, vineyards and forests. Walking during a holiday in the Loire Valley is very pleasant, thanks to the weather which is often mild, and the flat landscape. With this in mind, why not plan a walking tour in Tours, or a walking tour elsewhere in Indre-et-Loire? Be sure to check the Loire Valley weather forecast before you head out.

G.R.3 and the Saint Martin trails

The G.R.3 trail (the Loire on foot trail) follows the natural course of the Loire river for nearly 1,250 kilometres, from its source at Mont Gerbier-de-Jonc (07) to its mouth at La Baule (44). In Touraine, the trail passes near several points of interest: Chinon castle, Azay-le-Rideau castle, Ambois (...)
