A little footpath amongst woodland, moorland, meadows and lakes…are you picturing a hike in Epinal? Think again, this is Cléré-les-Pins in Touraine!

Hike around the Château de Champchevrier

The Maritime pine trees planted in the 19th century are rooted in the town right down to its name. But there are also lots of other trees that have been here for a long time. The forest was once home to wolves which were hunted at the oldest hunting lodge in the European Court: the Château de Champchevrier, epicentre of this 13 kilometre hike.

On a beautiful autumnal day amongst the pastoral and varied scenery, you’re bound to enjoy this outdoor experience to the fullest.

If you want to explore the hiking trail over a weekend in Touraine, be sure to make the most of your time here to visit the Loire’s many nearby châteaux (LangeaisGizeux, Villandry etc.) or soak up the many wine estates such as Bourgueil for red wine and Azay-le-Rideau for white.
