La Loire à Vélo: Vélo Loire train service Bring your bike on the train… free of charge! © M. Frémont

In order to make it easier to travel around the Loire à Vélo cycling trail, bicycles can once more be carried on the Interloire regional trains from Orleans to Nantes (and even to Le Croisic at weekends) free of charge until 14 September 2014.

Daily connections along the Loire à Vélo

With 3 return trips a day on weekdays, and 2 at weekends, this free, no-reservation service takes the form of a carriage specially designed to transport 40 bicycles, with dedicated staff to help you board and alight with your bicycles. You just need to have a standard travel ticket.

Stations served

Every train serves the stations of Beaugency, Blois, Amboise, Saint-Pierre-des-Corps, Saumur, Angers-Saint-Laud and Ancenis. For example, covering 45 to 50 kilometres a day (around 4 hours’ cycling a day, at a very reasonable speed of 12kmph), you can treat yourself to a wonderful week-long break between Amboise and Le Croisic, after which you can go home by train using the Train Vélo Loire service, as well as other equally useful services such as the “accueil vélo” cyclists’ accommodationluggage transfer and the Loire à Vélo smartphone app. Soon you’ll be leading the pack!
