Chinon-Bourgueil-Azay

This denomination actually represents 4 AOCs that are worth checking out (Chinon, Bourgueil, Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil and Touraine-Azay-le-Rideau) at the many "cave touristique" wine cellars as well as at local restaurants. A variety of activities can be enjoyed: vineyard exploration outings, wine and local products tasting, tours of historical sites (the Chinon royal fortress, the Langeais castle...), in addition to boat excursions on the Vienne and Loire rivers, as well as tree-top forest adventure courses for the more athletically-minded.

Val de Loire - Amboise

3 AOCs are celebrated here during the twenty or so wine events each year:  Vouvray, Touraine-Amboise, Touraine-Mesland. Along with the 24 "caves touristiques" wine cellars where the troglodyte world is very present, several fascinating sites are worth a visit, such as the Royal Amboise castle, Clos Lucé (where Leonardo da Vinci spent his last days) the Chanteloup pagoda and the Valmer gardens. Also of interest: the Loire à Vélo cycling trail is perfect for pleasant excursions!

Val de Loire - Chenonceau

In addition to the most-visited castle in the Loire Valley, Chenonceau, many monuments are waiting to be explored (château de la Bourdaisière, château de Montpoupon...), not to mention the vineyards! The Touraine and Touraine Chenonceau appellations are the most prominent ones but the Montlouis-sur-Loire AOC is also nearby.  Fifteen or so wine-related events are held here. Recreation enthusiasts will also appreciate what the area has to offer: pleasant walks, the Parc de Beauval Zoo, and even hot-air balloon excursions.
